BELLFLOWER — Bellflower is reporting a 25% reduction in serious crime in 2026, a decline city officials say is outpacing several neighboring communities.
According to the city’s latest public safety update, Part I crimes — which include the most serious offenses against people and property — have fallen 25%. By comparison, the city said Artesia has experienced a 16% decrease and Paramount a 14% decline.
Bellflower officials credited a combination of technology, enforcement and other public-safety initiatives for the improvement.
Recent investments include gunshot-detection technology intended to improve law-enforcement response times and license-plate-reading cameras used to identify stolen vehicles and suspects.
The city has also launched the Bellflower Enforcement and Safety Team, known as BEAST, which addresses homeless encampments. Bellflower continues to operate its New Hope Shelter for people experiencing homelessness while using code enforcement to target illegal businesses.
City officials credited public-safety personnel, community partners and residents with contributing to the decline and encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity.
