NORWALK — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an incident that occurred Tuesday, Aug. 18, near Rosecrans Avenue and the 605 Freeway, just three days after a separate incident in the same general area resulted in a death.
The City of Norwalk is increasing coordination with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department following the two incidents, with deputies maintaining an increased law enforcement presence in the Rosecrans Avenue area.
Sheriff’s personnel remained in the area overnight following the Aug. 18 incident as the investigation continued. The City did not release details about what occurred or whether anyone was injured.
The incident followed a separate Aug. 15 event involving a loss of life, prompting concern among residents about public safety in the area.
City officials emphasized that the two incidents are being
investigated separately based on their individual circumstances and did not indicate that investigators believe they are connected.
Norwalk officials said they are working closely with personnel from the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station to increase visibility, exchange information and address public safety concerns in the community.
“The safety and well-being of everyone in the community continue to be a top priority in Norwalk,” the City said in an Aug. 18 media alert.
The City is also encouraging residents to register for its RAVE public safety notification system by texting NORWALK to 77295.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips may be submitted to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
