Grand Central Bakery Recalls Potato Sourdough Bread After Metal Found in Loaf

Grand Central Bakery has recalled several varieties of its Potato Sourdough bread after a pallet nail was discovered inside a loaf, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The Seattle-based bakery said the recalled bread may contain pieces of metal. No injuries or illnesses related to the products have been reported.

The recall covers Potato Sourdough products sold on Aug. 10, 2026, including 20-ounce Potato Market Loaves, 20-ounce Potato Table Loaves and 12-ounce Mini Potato Loaves. The packaged 20-ounce Potato Market Loaf carries UPC 733163001576.

The products were distributed through grocery stores, restaurants, wholesalers and Grand Central Bakery cafés in the Seattle and Tacoma areas of Washington.

Retailers listed in the recall include Whole Foods Market, Fred Meyer, QFC, PCC Markets, Town & Country Market, Thriftway and other Washington-area stores.

Grand Central Bakery initiated the recall after a pallet nail was discovered in a loaf of Potato Sourdough Bread.

Consumers who purchased the affected bread on Aug. 10 should dispose of it. Customers with questions can contact Grand Central Bakery at 503-232-0575, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific time.

The FDA posted the recall announcement Aug. 14.
