La Palma Certifies Four Candidates for November City Council Election

LCCN Staff Report

LA PALMA — The City of La Palma has certified four candidates for two City Council seats that will be decided in the Nov. 3, 2026 General Municipal Election.

Voters in Council Districts 2 and 4 will each elect a representative to the five-member City Council.

The nomination period closed Aug. 7, and the La Palma City Clerk’s Office confirmed that all four candidates met the requirements to appear on the ballot.

In District 2, voters will choose between Andrew Kim and Nitesh P. Patel.

In District 4, the candidates are Mary Paningsoro and Jonathan Dinwiddie.

The city said the candidates are listed in the order in which their names will appear on the ballot.

La Palma uses a by-district election system, meaning voters cast ballots only for the City Council candidate seeking to represent the district in which they live.

Residents can determine their City Council district and obtain additional information about the municipal election, candidates and voter registration through the City of La Palma’s elections webpage.

The General Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.
