Downey Police Fatally Shoot Suspect After Two Killed In Apparent Domestic Violence Incident

DOWNEY — Three people are dead following an apparent domestic violence incident Saturday morning in Downey that ended when a police officer fatally shot an armed suspect.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded at approximately 7:50 a.m. Aug. 8 to the 11800 block of Downey Avenue following reports of an officer-involved shooting.
Investigators said Downey Police Department officers had responded to the location, where a male suspect was allegedly involved in a domestic violence-related incident involving family members.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly shot and killed a man and a woman. Their identities had not been released as of Sunday morning.
During the response, a Downey police officer shot the male suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators were called to assist Downey police with the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
“Based on the information currently available, this appears to be an isolated domestic violence-related incident involving the suspect and family members,” sheriff’s officials said. “There is no known threat to the community.”
The names of the suspect and two victims have not been released, and authorities have not disclosed additional details about what led to the shootings.
