The sheriff’s department Wednesday sought the public’s help in identifying a man who tried to burglarize a home in Cerritos.
The attempted burglary occurred about 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 16400 block of Holmes Circle, according to the sheriff’s department.
A homeowner arrived at her residence and saw the suspect coming out of the access door to her back yard, officials said.
“When the homeowner checked the back yard she found a crowbar and a torn window screen on the floor and a window pushed up,” according to a sheriff’s department statement. “A group of individuals were nearby and snapped a photo of the suspect as he was fleeing.”
The suspect was described as white, 20-25 years old with a light mustache and goatee and a gothic-style tattoo on his left elbow.
Anyone who can help identify him was urged to call the sheriff’s detective handling the case at (562) 860-0044.
