LAKEWOOD (CNS) – The coroner’s office today released the name of the 24- year-old man who was found shot to death at the bottom of an embankment in the San Gabriel Riverbed in Lakewood.
He was Duke Herrera of Norwalk, according to coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz.
Deputies were dispatched about 10:30 a. m. Saturday to the San Gabriel Riverbed just north of Carson Street in response to a report of a “male not breathing” and found the shooting victim identified as Herrera at the bottom of the embankment, said Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Herrera had a single gunshot wound to the upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said. Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with information regarding the shooting death to call them at (323) 890-5500.
Huge homeless population living in the streets and flood control in ELW and HG, plus the 605 ramps to the Long Beach Town Center. Was this victim, part of the growing homeless camp population? Isn’t this part of Knabe’s territory??
