FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE SUNDAY NIGHT ON I-5 BETWEEN GARFIELD AVENUE AND ATLANTIC BOULEVARD
COMMERCE – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) today announced that the northbound Santa Ana Freeway (Interstate 5) is scheduled to be fully closed overnight on Sunday, April 19 in order to install traffic detection loops. On-ramps will also be closed.
The closure locations and times are:
Sunday overnight (4/19/15):
Northbound I-5 between Garfield Ave. and Atlantic Blvd.
The following ramps will also be closed:
Traffic will be detoured to exit at Garfield Ave. off-ramp, go west on Telegraph Rd. to the Atlantic Blvd. on-ramp to northbound I-5 freeway. A portable changeable message sign will be posted on the freeway along with detour signs along the detour route.
This is a tentative schedule that may change pending weather and field conditions.
These closures are related to a $10 million pavement preservation project on I-5 from Interstate 605 to Interstate 710 which began in summer 2014 and will end in 2016. Security Paving is the contractor.
