Cerritos Weekly Crime Summary March 16 – 22, 2015

There were 21 Part I felony crimes reported in Cerritos this past reporting period, an increase of seven from the previous week. The following is a breakdown of crimes by category: one aggravated assault; five residential burglaries; three commercial/other burglaries; one vehicle burglary; two grand thefts; and eight auto thefts. Cerritos Station deputies made four felony arrests, 12 misdemeanor arrests, four warrant arrests, and issued 122 citations. The Sheriff’s dispatch center also received a total of 249 calls, an increase from the 2015 weekly average of 244.

Aggravated Assault:

 10800 block Alondra Blvd (03/22 – Daytime): The suspect approached the victim, yelled profanities and without provocation proceeded to assault the victim. The suspect calmly left the location and was later arrested at his/her home.

Residential Burglary:

 18900 block Vickie Ave (03/16 – Daytime): The suspect(s) entered through an open bedroom window and stole several valuables.

12200 block Rose St (03/20 – Daytime): The suspect(s) broke a living room window and stole currency from the home.

19400 block Elmira Ct (03/16 – Early evening): The suspect(s) broke a living room window and stole documents.

16600 block Jeanette Ave (03/17 – Daytime): The suspect entered through an open bedroom window and then fled the residence when he encountered the homeowner. Suspect was seen fleeing the area in a black compact vehicle.

13000 block Brazil St (Attempt, 03/13-15 Daytime): The suspect(s) attempted to pick the lock of the front door but was unsuccessful. There was no entry made into the home.

Commercial/Other Structure Burglary:

 17200 block Norwalk Blvd (03/21): The suspect(s) entered through the roof of the business. Nothing appeared to be stolen from the location.

17100 block Norwalk Blvd (03/19-20): The suspect(s) broke through the wall of the business. Bed comforters were stolen from the location.

17100 block Norwalk Blvd (03/19-20): The suspect(s) broke through the wall of the business. Electronics were stolen from the location.

 Grand Theft:

 11200 block 183rd St (03/19): The suspect stole an electronic device from the victim.

11500 block South St (10/01/14-03/18/15): The suspect(s) stole two large bronze statues, by unknown means, belonging to the City of Cerritos.

Vehicle Burglary:

13200 block South St (Attempt, 03/19): The suspects attempted to cut the lock off of a ’99 Dorsey Trailer in an attempt to steal the tools located inside the trailer.

Grand Theft Auto:

12700 block Towne Center Dr (03/17): The suspect(s) stole a ‘94 Honda Accord parked in the shopping center. The vehicle was recovered in Cerritos.

17700 block Center Court Dr (03/17): The suspect(s) stole a ’14 Chevrolet Tahoe from the parking lot of the location. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.

12700 block Towne Center Dr (03/19): The suspect(s) stole a ‘08 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the shopping center. The vehicle has not been recovered.

19700 block Gridley Rd (03/15): The suspect(s) stole a ’06 Suzuki Reno parked on a residential street. The vehicle has not been recovered.

Lucas St & Bloomfield Ave (03/19-20): The suspect(s) stole a ’05 Ford Econoline which was parked on a residential street. The vehicle was recovered in Long Beach.

239 Los Cerritos Center (03/15): The suspect(s) stole a ‘98 Honda Civic from the mall parking lot. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.

239 Los Cerritos Center (03/16): The suspect(s) stole a ‘95 Honda Accord from the mall parking lot. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.

10900 block Alondra Blvd (03/19): The suspect(s) stole a ‘90 Honda Accord from the parking lot of the location. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.
