Erick Alcaraz, 24, has been identified as the Los Angeles Police Department officer who was killed Saturday in an off-duty crash in Torrance.
The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of Alcaraz on Sunday to members of the media.
Alcaraz was with the LAPD for 18 months. He was riding his motorcycle when it collided with a vehicle at an intersection in Torrance. Ironically, Alcaraz was slated to officially join the West Los Angeles Division today.
The tragic crash took place at South Western Avenue and West 234th Street.
