Veteran’s ‘Saluted’ At Saturday’s La Palma Parade

Veterans will be hailed this Saturday in La Palma at a festive parade and other activities focused on the theme “We Salute You!”

On Saturday, November 9th, a parade featuring the United States Navy Band, the 40th Infantry Band, the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, and community groups.

Dr. Robert Simpson, the Cypress College President, will be serving the people, as the Honorary Grand Marshal while Nathan Range, a Deputy Commander from the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base, will be joining us as the Military Grand Marshal. As one of the most important band parades in Southern California, the competition during the parade will include thirty junior and high school bands fighting for the best positions.

The band review will begin at 9:45 a.m. and the community parade will start at 10 a.m.

Following the appreciative parades, Central Park will host the celebratory La Palma Days Community Festival to commemorate our Veterans. In remembrance of our country’s fighters, the festival will include fun activities, great entertainment, delicious food, specialty vendors, cultural and history displays, and some creative arts and crafts for the attendees. Some fun activities will include: a giant obstacle course, a rock-climbing wall, rope-a-phobia, bounce houses, petting zoos, and pony rides for everyone.

The central Pavilion Stage will be providing diverse entertainment throughout the day. One will be able to make handcrafted goods and the crafts booth alongside fourteen food vendors from different nations to serve everyone’s food need.

Presale discounted wristbands will be sold for only $22 for all activities until Friday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. or $25 for wristband after the presale ends. To purchase a presale wristband one can stop by the La Palma Community Services Department.

Here is a schedule for the event: 12:30 pm Ronny and the Classics (Rock N’ Roll);  1:45 pm Cypress High School Singers (High School Choir);  2:45 p.m. Silk Thunder (Hikari Taiko Drummers);  4:00 p.m. Innovations Dance Academy; 4:30 p.m. Gold Eagle (2013 Teen Battle of the Bands winner).
