Temple City High School was closed to students on Friday after an anonymous caller told Temple Sheriff’s Station desk personnel that bombs were located on the campus.
“LASD deputies responded, and evacuated the campus. A thorough search is underway on the campus, including with Sheriff’s K-9 dogs and helicopter. Our goal is to ensure the campus is safe for students, teachers and everyone,” a spokesman told Hews Media Group Community Newspaper in a statement.
Law enforcement has also shut down streets around campus are blocked by deputies. Motorists are being told to avoid the area around Temple City High School. The campus is located at 9501 Lemon Avenue.
“Due to the situation, the school Superintendent has cancelled classes at Temple City High School (Lemon Ave) for today, Friday, September 27, 2013,” a spokesperson from the school stressed in a statement.
“We are actively seking to identify the caller. If you have any information, please call the Temple Sheriff’s Station detectives at 626-285-7171. Or if you wish to remain Anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org,” Sheriff’s officials stressed.
