The lifeless body of a man was found floating in the Rio Hondo Wash on Saturday has prompted law enforcement officials to open up a homicide investigation.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives were continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that occurred on Saturday at approximately 3:35 PM, in the 3500 block of Santa Anita Avenue, El Monte.   The location was near Pioneer Park.

In a statement to the media on Sunday, detectives have learned that pedestrians were walking in the area when they observed a body floating in the Rio Hondo Wash, in the City of El Monte.

The victim, a male Hispanic 25-35 years old, suffered blunt force trauma and possible stab wounds.  The identity of the deceased man has not been determined.
