The Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau Detectives are investigating the sexual abuse of a student, by an Instructional Aid, at Leuzinger High School in Lawndale. On May 7, 2013 the suspect accompanied the victim, who is mentally challenged, into a stairwell at the school where he fondled her over the clothing. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
The incidents were reported to the school principal by students who witnesses inappropriate touching by the suspect.
On May 10, 2013, at 5:30 pm, detectives from Special Victim’s Bureau arrested Juan Gutierrez on a warrant for three misdemeanor counts of Annoying or Molesting a Child 647.6 P.C. after the case was filed earlier in the day with the LA County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect was released on Bond on May 11, 2013.
