LAS VEGAS (AP) — The names of five Southern California family members killed in a deadly Southern Nevada traffic crash have been released and one of them is from Norwalk.
The Clark County coroner‘s confirmed that 41-year-old Genaro Fernandez of Norwalk was among those killed in the horrific accident.
The others who perished included 49-year-old Raudel Fernandez-Avila and 53-year-old Belen Fernandez, both of Lynwood. The other two family members who died were 13-year-old Angela Sandoval and 45-year-old Leonardo Fernandez-Avila, both of Los Angeles.
Coroner’s spokeswoman Jennifer Demers says their relationships were not immediately known.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the victims were with two other family members in a van that was struck by an SUV Saturday on Interstate 15, some 30 miles southwest of Mesquite.
Trooper Loy Hixson says the others are hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
SUV driver Jean Soriano of California was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He had been living temporarily in St. George.
