Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing to assist Alhambra Police Department personnel investigate the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting early Saturday morning.
Just after 2:00 a.m. Alhambra Police Department officers were on foot patrol at the intersection of 2nd Street and Main Streets, Alhambra, when they saw a wrong way driver on 2nd Street. The driver was traveling south in the northbound lane. The officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver did not yield, struck one of the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect vehicle was stopped by assisting Alhambra officers a few blocks away. Two suspects were taken into custody.
The officer was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, who was hit by the officer’s gunfire, was transported to a local and is listed in stable condition. The passenger was treated for injuries he sustained in an earlier unrelated altercation.
Both suspects are adults; their names are not being released at this time.
