Los Angeles County Sheriff Francisco Gamez has been arrested and booked on murder, attempted murder and gun charges in connection with the shooting death of Armando Casillas.
Gamez, 41, was taken into custody and booked into the 77th Street Jail. NBCLA is reporting that Gamez is being held on $4 million bail.
“The off-duty acts that led to the arrest of Francisco Gamez are deeply disturbing to me and to the entire Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca said in a statement early Wednesday evening.
“The Sheriff’s Department has been fully cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department since first learning of the investigation. Gamez is a 17-year veteran deputy of the Sheriff’s Department and has been assigned to West Hollywood Station since 2005. On July 3 of this year Gamez was relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation,” said Sheriff Baca.
Los Cerritos Community News will have additional details as they develop.
