Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe is recommending that a $10,000 reward be offered to help find the person or persons responsible for the murder of Emmanuel Gatewood, a 17 year old standout football player from Lakewood High School who was recently gunned down while he attended a party.
Knabe will be seeking the reward next week during a public agenda item when the supervisors meet at the Los Angeles County Hall of Administration.
Gatewood died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at approximately 10:43 pm, after being shot one after leaving a party at 1449 West 123rd Street in Los Angeles.
“It is believed that Emmanuel was not the intended target of the shooting. He was a bright young man who attended Lakewood High School and had recently turned in his paperwork to attend Grambling University in Louisiana,” Knabe said.
“No one has been arrested in this case and investigators believe it would be beneficial to offer a reward in this case, which may prompt reluctant witnesses to come forward and provide information to identify the individual(s) responsible for this crime,” Knabe said.
The reward money will be provided for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) of the heinous crime.
