Engelbert Humperdinck Kicks Off New Season at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts

Grammy nominee Engelbert Humperdinck charms his way back to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) with a two-day concert kicking off the 2012-2013 Season. The legendary balladeer presents his greatest hits on Saturday, August 18, 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 19, 3:00 PM. Tickets, ranging from $90-$40, are available at the CCPA Ticket Office, at www.cerritoscenter.com, or by calling (562) 467-8818.

Engelbert Humperdinck, “The King of Romance,” has wooed generations of fans worldwide with love songs such as the No. One The Last Waltz, Am I That Easy to Forget, A Man Without Love, and I’ll Walk Alone. His Top 10 hit, After the Lovin’, was nominated for a Grammy and achieved Gold status. In all, Humperdinck, whom Billboard called “a sensitive lyric interpreter with excellent vocal technique,” has enjoyed 63 Gold albums and 24 Platinum records over the course of his career.
Romance has long been at the core of Humperdinck’s repertoire and lasting success. Born Arnold George Dorsey, the crooner changed his name to Engelbert Humperdinck, after the 19th-century Austrian composer. With a three-and-a-half-octave vocal range, the singer worked his way into hearts and charts with an endless string of hits that included Help Me Make It Through the Night, The Way It Used to Be, and There Goes My Everything.
Humperdinck’s Pop-ballad version of Release Me (And Let Me Love Again) rocketed to the top of the British charts, selling more than a million copies and eventually landing on the Top 10 in the United States. Other hits for Humperdinck, who won a 1988 Golden Globe for “Entertainer of the Year,” include This Moment in Time and Til You and Your Lover Are Lovers Again.
