UPDATED- Power restored in Cerritos

A  power outage hit Cerritos at approximately 3:30 today affecting 159 homes and businesses  in an in and around the Cerritos Towne Center. LCCN called Cerritos city personnel who said they spoke to SCE. SCE spokesperson said “It is a large area and we are currently assessing the damage”. LCCN can confirm power was out around their office at Artesia and Shoemaker, and seemed to be going in a westerly direction. LCCN will update this story as it becomes available.

UPDATE-Car hits power pole causing outage

The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Woodruff Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard, according to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation as of 4 p.m. Monday and it was not clear how long it would take to restore power, deputies at the scene said.

The pole is a city power pole, not one controlled by Southern California Edison.

UPDATE:  Power was restore at around 4:30 p.m.
