Orange County Drug Dealer Indicted for Murder

SANTA ANA, California –

A lengthy Orange County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigation has led to the arrest of Louis Richard Wood, a 35 year old resident of Mission Viejo. Wood is accused of being present and supplying drugs that contributed to the overdose death of an Orange County resident. On November 16, 2011 Emma Wihlborg (21 years old) died of an overdose of drugs while staying at a hotel in Lake Forest.
After a thorough investigation, the case was turned over to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review. Wood was indicted by the Grand Jury for the murder of Emma Wihlborg. On the evening of March 11, Wood was taken into custody by Sheriff’s investigators and booked into the Orange County Jail. He is currently being held on the charge of murder, with bail set at $1,000,000.
This case demonstrates the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s commitment to drug enforcement, and the investigation and suppression of narcotics. In addition to enforcement, the Sheriff’s department provides a multitude of educational programs on drug related issues and trends. Drug Liaison Officers (DLOs) are assigned to each contract city and unincorporated areas and are responsible for educating youth, parents and educators on drug abuse. Drug Use Is Life Abuse (DUILA), a program of the Sheriff’s Advisory Council, also provides drug education programs to approximately 3,000 Orange County students each quarter.
