2015 OC Fair to Showcase the Talents of Orange County’s & California’s Artisans

Entry registration is open now at ocfair.com/competitions.

Costa Mesa, Calif. (April 2, 2015) – Bakers, gardeners, quilters, woodworkers, photographers and other artisans of all ages are invited to showcase their talents at the 2015 OC Fair(July 17-August 16). Details for the 2015 OC Fair competitions are available at ocfair.com/competitions.

The following competitions are open to adults (Some residency restrictions apply, see the individual competition guides for full details):

• Culinary: Baked Goods & Confections, Preserved Foods, Sugar Arts, Table Settings, Home & Commercial Wine, Home Brew
• Garden & Floral: Container Plant, Cut Flower, Floral Arrangements (Fresh, Dry & Specialty), Fruit & Vegetable, Honey
• Crafts & Hobbies: Jewelry Arts, Fiber Arts, Hand Crafts, Collections
• Visual Arts: Photography, Woodworking, Sculpture, Painting, Graphics, Ceramics
• Livestock (Breeding): Rabbits, Poultry, Goats

Younger artisans can also compete at the 2015 OC Fair in Youth Explorium Competitions (Crafts, Drawing, Painting, Creative Writing, Photography), Fiber Arts, Hand Crafts, Cakes, Cupcakes & Confections, Cookies, Sugar Arts, Pies, Breads, Preserved Foods, Table Settings, Container Plants, Cut Flowers, Floral Arrangements, Honey, Fruit & Vegetables, Jewelry Arts, Student Film Festival, Future Magician’s Contest and Livestock (Breeding & Market). Age and residency restrictions vary for each competition, see the individual competitions guides at ocfair.com/competitions for details.

The OC Fair competitive entries require online registration in advance and the deadlines for entry registrations are as follows:

• May 1 – Homebrew (Homemade Beer)
• May 2 – Commercial Wine
• May 16 – Home Wine
• June 1 – Crafts & Hobbies, Visual Arts, Youth: Explorium
• June 5 – Livestock
• July 1 – Culinary: Sugar Arts
• July 1 & 22 – Culinary: Table Settings
• July 15 – Culinary: Cakes, Cupcakes & Confections, Cookies, Bars & Brownies
• July 22 – Culinary: Pies, Cheesecakes, Yeast & Quick Breads
• June 15 – Culinary: Preserved Foods

Entry registration for these competitions is currently being accepted online at ocfair.com/competitions. Free online entry “Help Days” are Thursday, May 28 – Friday, May 29, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the OC Fair & Event Center Administration Building.

In addition to the traditional competitions, the OC Fair is offering several noteworthy contests this year:

• Special Culinary Arts Contest – Have your culinary masterpiece judged live at the Fair. Each Saturday contest has a unique theme and contestants register the Wednesday before each contest. See the Culinary Arts Guide atocfair.com/competitions for details.
• Digital Photography Shoot Out – Join us at the Fair to compete in this live, timed photography contest on July 26. Contest is limited to the first 45 amateur photographers to register. Registration opens June 1.
• Knots of Love – Knit caps are made and collected for donation to chemotherapy patients throughout the U.S. who have experienced traumatic hair loss. It’s free to enter and open to any U.S. resident.
• Quilts of Valor – Patriotic quilt blocks are made and collected to build quilts for active duty U.S. military and U.S. veterans. It’s free to enter and open to any U.S. resident.
• Many Faces of the Fair – This photography contest invites Fairgoers to capture a special moment at the Fair to be featured at the next year’s OC Fair.

It’s “One Big Party” for the 2015 OC Fair, July 17-August 16, as it celebrates its 125th anniversary with 23 days of food, rides, shopping, exhibits and animals. Enjoy world-renowned performers in the Pacific Amphitheatre and exciting events in The Hangar and Action Sports Arena. The Fair is open Wednesday-Sunday. Concert tickets, action sports reserved seats, single-day general admission and the popular Super Pass are available for purchase online at ocfair.com or from the on-site Box Office.
