A Lakewood man apparently leaped to his death on Monday night from a 605 Freeway overcrossing in Cerritos prompting a massive traffic nightmare for motorists, and many of them apparently witnessed the horrific incident take place.
Law enforcement officials confirmed to Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper that Manuel Truejo, 42, of Lakewood landed on the northbound 605 Freeway just north of Del Amo Boulevard and was hit by at least one vehicle at around 9:35 p.m.
“It looks like he jumped off the bridge and landed on the freeway and he was hit,” Lt. Fred Corral of the Coroner’s Investigation Unit. Corral said that an investigation has been opened into the matter.
Several Southern California television news programs covered the aftermath of the scene.
