Los Angeles was one-upped by Boston as the pick to vie for the 2024 Olympic Games.
In making the recommendation, Boston beat Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., to be the city submitted to the International Olympic Committee.
The decision was announced following a meeting of the USOC board in Denver.
Foreign competitors include Doha, Rome, Nairobi, Kenya, Hamburg, Casablanca, Morocco, Johannesburg and Durban, South Africa, Qatar, Melbourne, Paris, and St. Petersburg, .
