A man was shot to death in Compton this morning,
authorities said.
The shooting in the 1100 block of East Marcelle Street just east of Long
Beach Boulevard was reported at 2:27 a.m., said Los Angeles County sheriff's
Deputy Trina Schrader. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
His name was withheld pending family notification.
The body was found inside a Nissan, a news photographer reported from
the scene.
Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to call the sheriff's
homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477. Tips can
be made anonymously.
