John Perez Throws in Towel in Recount of California Controllers Campaign

State Assemblyman John Perez has halted a recount of the voting in the razor thin campaign for Controller of California.

Perez issued the following media statement late Friday afternoon to campaign supporters.

Dear Supporter:
I wanted you to be among the first to know that I have ended the recount and called Betty Yee to congratulate her and offer her my support.
This has been a long journey and your support has meant so much to me. Despite today’s turn of events, we have so much more to do and I look forward to standing with you in the fights ahead. Please see my official statement below and thank you for everything.
