Downey police officials are investigating a truck vs. bicyclist traffic collision that occurred at Florence Avenue and Fairford Avenue that took place on Friday morning at around 8 a.m.
According to Lt. Scott Loughner of the Downey Police Department, the bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
Loughner confirmed that the victim was 46-year-old male adult from Whittier. His name was not released to Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper.
The driver of the big rig truck that was involved was not charged with a crime and was released from the scene.
Eastbound Florence Avenue was closed during the investigation. A sig alert was also issued in the area on Friday morning.
