Chair of LA County Board of Supervisors and Former Congresswoman Janice Hahn Endorses Kamala Harris

Today, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Janice Hahn announced that she’s endorsing Kamala Harris for President. Hahn, who previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives for five years and on the Los Angeles City Council for ten years, is the latest California leader to get behind Harris. 

“I’ve worked with countless elected officials here in California, and I can tell you that Kamala Harris is one-of-a-kind. She’s a sharp, unrelenting leader who genuinely listens to what every American has to say,” said Hahn. As president, Kamala will both hold predatory corporations accountable and fight for all Americans’ safety, security, and health. Her commitment to standing up for all of us – especially those who are marginalized and voiceless – is inspiring.”

Throughout her career, Hahn has worked tirelessly to reduce the homelessness crisis, provided legal representation to undocumented immigrants, and established LA Found – which helps locate older adults living with disabilities. Hahn decided to endorse after taking a holistic look at Harris’ record and policy proposals, understanding that Harris would tackle the most severe issues that all Americans face. Harris’ Rent Relief Act, which would provide a credit to anyone spending more than 30 percent of their income on rent and utilities, along with her newly released plan to protect and give better economic opportunities to people with disabilities, are two major policies that moved Hahn to announce her support. 

Hahn joins five members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and numerous  elected officials across the state who have endorsed Harris, including Governor Gavin Newsom, U.S. Representatives Barbara Lee, Ted Lieu, Katie Hill, Julia Brownley, Nanette Barragan, and Jim Costa, Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, State Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins, Speaker Anthony Rendon, civil rights leader Dolores Huerta, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Compton Mayor Aja Brown, and numerous other municipal and local leaders.
