  • Humpty Dumpty says:

    Bloomfield Noise –Granny flats

Personal note, have visited many homes on these busy streets, homes have to keep HVAC 24/7 just to survive the noise and friable dust fumes, these cargo streets are generating.

Bloomfield need to be paved with concrete and forget the asphalt. Sound barrier fence would aid the area, but should not be born by the tax budget, but charge fees to be paid by truckers. Sound wall in my opine, will only divide the community, as regualare 6’-10’ wall is only partially going to deaden the sound, but will not aid in ground vibrations.

It’s not only Bloomfield Blvd, many other streets too: Artesia Boulevard, South Street, Carmenita, and Del Amo Boulevard. Valley View Street is real ear popper with the truck trafficking and soot. Cerritos has been a very poor real estate manager. All of the citys tax money income, is being sucked back in to the CCPA/ Baby Sitting Library Headquarters, and not rehabbing or modernization for the residents. Our public works are just awful, in all sections of the city. Many home have to get HVAC running most of the year, to aid the air quietly inside of their home, since they can not open windows. Lax HOMES IN Westchester have some of the same issues compared to Sundance HOA in Cerritos.

City Council #1 items are: Whitney HS, Chinese this/that BS, Affiliations with Military and so forth. ……WHAT ABOUT US, WHAT ABOUT ALL THE 50,00O RESIDENTS, WHAT ABOUT US!!….. CCC did not get elected to be a pseudo Chamber of Commerce, but CEO of our investments, such a road improvements, and so forth. Our streetcape has never looked this bad in 50Yrs and our residential hoods, look like they are few steps away from becoming new: Compton, Watts and Carson. CCC please remove your blinders and step out in to our hoods during NW meetings and get a taste of reality by: (Seeing- Smelling- Hearing ) results of mass transportation going wild. Appoint real commissioners who know our city and stop appointing personal friends, whom are brain dead about our: city-county-state-nation.
CCC please do away with all of the Disneyland Parties ( 4th July-Halloween-Spr Festival ) and start paying serious attention to our failing infrastructure. CCC needs to be all given a RX shot of reality, our city has reached its peek and city is slowing deteriorating and go downhill real fast.

    Granny Flats-

The state has mandated every city allow for granny Flats, but the city of Cerritos will not investigate and put it the planning agenda for talk, in order to put it into the planning department resolutions. Right now we cannot put in granny Flats because there’s no city ordinance for the granny Flats . So why do we even have Sacramento okaying granny Flats when the city of Cerritos will not allow them still? I have asked many times to have this put on the agenda so we can start a healthy discussion and they said no. Granny flats could be supplemental income for the Cerritos Residents, especially for the senior residents, as part of the home can be rented out, for additional incomes which can aid seniors social security and many seniors are living under the poverty levels.

City of Downey, Lakewood, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Yorba Linda, Pasadena, Belflower, Artesia, Altadena, Long Beach, West Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Fullerton, Newport Beach, Torrance, Lomita, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, Tustin, Anaheim, all have Granny Flats or Casitas, for the past 100 yrs and their is no issues with them, so why is Cerritos so hung up on not having GRANNY FLATS Discussions?

Granny Flats provide multi generation homes, homes with bachelor pad, etc. Just another form of diversity, as not everyone wants to purchase a one bedroom home.
