LAKEWOOD (CNS) - The coroner's office today identified a woman killed
while riding a bicycle in Lakewood by a motorist who then struck a telephone
pole and was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. G. Acosta
of the sheriff's Lakewood Station. The crash in the 11700 block of Del Amo
Boulevard happened about 2 a.m. Sunday, Acosta said.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Emmanuel Camacho, was booked into
the Lakewood Station and released about 9:20 p.m. Sunday after posting
$100,000 bail. Camacho is due in court today in Bellflower, according to
sheriff's online jail records.
  • Marathon Walker says:

    RIP:

Why was any female out cycling at 2am in the morning?

Cycling is not safe after dark fall, let alone 2am., plus young woman out along at that hr of the morning, what was she thinking.

1:00am-3:00am, what (%) of motorists, are under some form of DUI?

Do we have a photo of the area?

  • Jerome says:

I find it incredible that someone can commit murder and then be released. I ride my bicycle at about 4:30am because its the only time I can get my exercise.

  • James says:

Blame the dead woman, Marathon Walker. Maybe she was on her way to work? Who knows? She didn’t deserve to die, regardless.
