A technical problem caused several airlines to briefly lose access Tuesday morning to their reservations systems hosted by Sabre.
AMR Corp.’s American Airlines reported the outage on its website Tuesday morning, but then removed the message when the problem was fixed.
Southwest Airlines Co. said, in response to a query, that “we are back.”
Sabre said its teams are investigating the cause of the problem.
Sabre, the first of the computerized reservations systems to serve airlines and travel agents, was owned by AMR from 1986 until it was spun off in 2000.
The problem was caused by a piece of equipment at one of the carrier’s data centers that failed to communicate correctly with airports, reservations centers and website, the company said.
