McKenna Volkswagen dealership to expand

The Cerritos City Council has approved a proposal by Mc­Kenna Cerritos, LP, to construct a showroom addition and complete an interior and exterior remodel of the existing McKenna Volkswagen dealership at 18303 Studebaker Road.
The improvements include the following:
Addition of 2,033 square feet of showroom area to the existing dealership at the northwest and northeast corners of the building and at the eastern side of the building;
Installation of a new, clear glass curtain wall system on the east elevation;
Remodeling of the interior of the building to meet the Volkswagen corporate design requirements, which call for larger vehicle showrooms;
Removal of all existing mansard roofs and wrought iron railings on the showroom/parts/service building;
Replacement of the stucco on the east elevation with white aluminum composite material panels (ACM) and replacement of the existing stucco walls on the north and west side elevations with gray ACM panels;
Installation of new dealership signs on the building; and
Replanting and refurbishment of existing landscape areas.
Construction on the improvements is scheduled to begin in the next few months and take approximately six months to complete.
The Volkswagen Group is one of the world’s largest producers of passenger cars and Europe’s largest automaker. The Volkswagen brand includes 12 models of sedans, minivans, wagons and SUVs, including the popular Beetle and Jetta models.

The Jessa family opened Mezza Mediterranean Grill in Cerritos in January. The menu consists of Mediterranean staples such as marinated kabobs, homemade hummus and baba ganouj, and fresh salads.
Upon entering the restaurant patrons will feel as if they are in the Mediterranean region. The décor is a mixture of traditional artwork and modern styles and the room features a beautiful bar with wines from around the world.

Beautiful new convenience service station opens in Cerritos

A new Rapid 84 Chevron convenience service station recently opened at the northwest corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Artesia Boulevard.
The convenience store is triangular in shape and features imported Italian tiles, stainless steel accents and backlit snack displays topped with rocks and plants. The pump island canopy features a see-through solar panel roof. The custom steel frames supporting the panels are intended to represent trees, and the solar panels filter light in a way similar to the way trees filter light through leaves, creating a dappled pattern. The solar panels are expected to provide enough energy to power the convenience store. The front elevation of the convenience store building is made of translucent glass strips set at various angles to mimic cascading water. A shallow bubbling reflecting pool at the base of the glass wall reinforces the waterfall concept.
The architecture of the service station is considered public art in accordance with the City’s Art in Public Places program.

Penske Chevrolet remodel set

The Cerritos City Council has approved a proposal by PC Cerritos Realty, LLC to construct an office and showroom addition and complete an interior and exterior remodel of the Penske Chevrolet dealership at 18605 Studebaker Road.
The improvements include the following:
Enclosing the existing covered outdoor display area along the front and sides of the office and showroom building, resulting in an addition to the building of 2,527 square feet;
Remodeling of the interior of the building to meet the Chevrolet design requirements to provide a larger vehicle showroom;
Removal of all decorative dormer features on the mansard roofs and replacing the areas with slate style roofing;
Replacement of the stucco band at the top of the building with a metal panel system along the front and sides of the office and showroom building;
Addition of a Chevrolet entry tower centered on the front entrance doors;
Installation of new dealership signs;
Enlargement of the existing canopy at the service entrance;
Demolition and removal of the existing 360-square-foot car sales building in the parking lot;
Addition of four car display pads within the landscape frontage of Studebaker Road;
Addition of 18 parking spaces created by the reconfiguration of the parking area and removal of the car sales building;
Repair and/or replacement of all light standards on site; and
Replanting and refurbishment of existing landscape areas.
Construction on the improvements is scheduled to begin soon.
