With all precincts reporting, Montebello Mayor Vanessa Delgado garnered 21,899 – 52.03%- beating Republican Rita Topalian by only 1,711 votes.
Topalian got 20,188 votes, 47.97%.
Delgado will only serve until Dec. 3, just shy of one month after the November election between Bob Archuleta and Rita Topalian.
The win puts Delgado is a precarious position, serving as both the Mayor of Montebello and State Senator puts her squarely into an incompatible office position.
D.A. Jackey Lacey has shown a penchant for going after Latino elected officials, including Albert Robles and Pedro Aceituno, for incompatible offices while ignoring others.
