Torrance is low lying city. There are many earthen/ man made reservoirs (In-ground Lakes) throughout the city, in order to slow down flooding. South end of Torrance, century ago was Walteria Lake, below the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Also, there is a registered preserve/lake; to the east of Del Amo Mall.
Torrance traffic is horrific, as many cities in the South Bay, have to drive thru Torrance for ingress/egress.
