“KNX On Your Corner” to Converge on Cerritos

KNX-1

“CHIPS FOR KIDS” TOY DRIVE AND LIVE BROADCAST SET FOR DEC. 12.

Staff Report

With a holiday toy drive serving as the backdrop, KNX 1070 News-radio will bring its award-winning series profiling local communities to Cerritos, when “KNX On Your Corner,” spotlights the city on Friday, Dec. 12 from 5am – 7pm.

KNX will provide comprehensive reports on the unique characteristics and the history of Cerritos, once a sprawling sea of dairy farms.

Hews Media Group-Community News is a proud supporter of the event and will be donating in-kind advertising amounting to $2,800 to help KNX’s annual “CHiPs For Kids” toy drive.

Starting Nov. 28, HMG-CN will be mentioned in all radio spots promoting the event, along with the major sponsor of KNX On Your Corner, Community Bank.

“We are very excited to support this worthwhile event,” said HMG-CN Publisher Brian Hews, “we are asking everyone in Cerritos to come down on Dec. 12 and support the toy drive by donating an unwrapped toy.”

The public is invited to a live broadcast at Mimi’s Café, Cerritos, continuing KNX’s tradition of broadcasting live from a showcased city.  Mimi’s is located at 12727 Towne Center Drive, close to the 91 Freeway.  Free refreshments will be offered all day.

Mimi’s Cafe will also serve as a drop-off point for KNX’s annual “CHiPs For Kids” holiday toy drive in conjunction with CBS 2 and KCAL 9. New, unwrapped toys will be collected for distribution locally to less fortunate children by the California Highway Patrol.

Dick Helton and Vicky Moore will anchor the live broadcast from 5:00 – 9:00am, Frank Mottek will host the KNX Business Hour from 1:00 – 2:00pm and Jim Thornton and Diane Thompson will anchor the news from 2:00 – 7:00pm.

Listeners can participate on Twitter and Facebook using #KNX OnYourCorner.
