‘Watch for Horses’ made their way to Downtown Fullerton this past weekend at the Slidebar Rock n’ Roll Kitchen and Bar for their KROQ sponsored performance. Doors opened at 8:00pm for this show and hundreds of people gathered to support the band and other bands playing this past Saturday night.

The local Norwalk band has made its way to the Top 5 on KROQ Locals for the past 9 weeks. Ralph Tafoya, the lead vocalist, told the crowd that they had reached a capstone in their music career by having their EP album available on iTunes.

The Indie Alternative Rock Band sang the following tracks: “Tataouine”, “SGD”, “Evil Kid”, “Charismatic Spirit”, “Lost”, “Open Sea” and “Juliette”.

The bass guitarist of the band, Joshua Borja told HMG-CN, “I felt pretty nervous for a bit since we hadn’t played live for a few months, but as soon as the music started everything fell right back into place. I started playing and dancing and sweating right away. I think my favorite moment was having everyone sing along to ‘Juliette’. It’s crazy because it seemed like they were singing for the whole song, which had never happened. It really made us feel welcome.”

KROQ Locals Only presented White Arrows, Watch for Horses, and Indian School with special guests US Royalty. White Arrows has been featured on Locals Only, most recently with “Leave It Alone,” while Watch for Horses made their appearance with “Open Sea” and Indian School with “Rob Your House.”

The lead vocalist, Ralph Tafoya, commented, “It was amazing. There’s nothing like hearing a crowd of people cheering because they genuinely enjoy what you’re doing. We work so hard to deliver a high energy show so having everyone yell and dance and sing is the ultimate pay off.”

“Without a doubt my favorite moment would be when the crowd was singing ‘Open Sea’. We’ve had a crowd sing ‘Juliette’ before and that was an amazing surprise. To hear them sing ‘Open Sea’ and do it so loud was a moment where in my head I was thinking ‘are they singing right now? Or was my water too strong?’ When the crowd sings our songs with us it really gets us even more fired up as we play.”

The show was free in order to promote the KROQ Local Only Top Bands.
The lead guitarist Julio Quijano commented, “Being on stage was a relief, it had been a while since we’ve played so feeling all those good vibes from the crowd was great and reassuring in a sense. The next stepping stone would be to continue on with gigs through out the summer and keep the momentum going. I’d like to get new material flowing through as well, so stay tuned for that.”

Fans gathered that night and sang with the band which created a power drive and made the show a success for the band members.

“I felt this sense of joy, a chill down my spine to see we have such a dedicated following, and it continues to grow. Slowly, but surely. And all of that wouldn’t have been possible to all of the exposure we’ve been getting through The World Famous KROQ, and their Local’s Only show,” said Julian Chavez, the drummer.

“Furthermore, a huge thank you to the fans for keeping us on the top 5. That’s where it really lies. The ‘unsung heroes’. The fans. For continuing to show support by voting, going to our shows, and creating the buzz necessary to really get noticed.”

“This performance in retrospect was by far the best, in regards to the crowd, the energy, and yes, the music. We love engaging with the fans, the crowd, because they are there to watch us. We want to create an environment that is memorable and that leaves you in great spirits, and leaves you wanting more,” Chavez continued.

The Norwalk band will be playing at the Ernie Ball Van’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ Warped Tour Friday June 20th, 2014 and is sure to bring in quite the stampede of fans.
