VILLA PARK, Calif. – (November 14, 2013) – On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, Emmanuel Hugo Hernandez, 26 years old, Orange, was arrested for felony battery on a student at Villa Park High School.  Hernandez is a “walk-on” wrestling coach at the school and is accused of committing felony battery on a student member of the wrestling team.

During the afternoon wrestling practice on the school’s campus, Hernandez grabbed a student member of the wrestling team and placed him in an unauthorized choke hold.  Hernandez ignored the victim’s attempt to tell him to stop and ultimately rendered the student victim unconscious.  Immediately following the student victim being rendered unconscious, Hernandez punched the victim several times in the head causing visible injury near the right ear.  Hernandez immediately left the school as medical aid was rendered to the victim.  The victim was transported and treated at a local hospital.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department Investigators and the School Mobile Assessment and Resource Team (SMART) conducted the investigation.  Hernandez was contacted at his residence in the city of Orange and arrested for CPC 243(D) – Battery with Serious Bodily Injury.  He was booked into the Orange County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail.
