Police Raid Montebello Mayor’s Home, Suspected of Drug Dealing

UPDATED: 4:33 p.m.  A longtime friend who did not want to be publicly identified told HMG-CN:  “I’ve known him (Guerrero) for a long time. They’re are both good people who support Youth Sports, and who support our kids who dont’ have any money to pay to play sports…this kinda horse s*** p***** me off.”

UPDATE at 2:50 p.m.:  A court appearance date has not been scheduled for Guerrero.  

Guerrero is still being held at the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Substation and is expected to be transferred to a Downtown facility.

 It is also being reported by other media sources that Guerrero has had brushes with law enforcement in the past.  In November 1999, he was convicted of driving under the influence. 

Booking details show Guerrero listed at 5’09, and weighing 190 pounds. No official comment has been released by the City of Montebello regarding the arrest.

UPDATE at 12:50 p.m.:  HMG-CN has placed several calls to the cell phone of Montebello Mayor Cortez to get a comment on this situation.  We will have more updates throughout the day.

Hews Media Group-Community News has received a tip from a very credible source that the home of Montebello Mayor Christina Cortez is being raided by police who suspect that drugs have been sold out of the home. Channel 2 is reporting that Cortez’ husband was handcuffed and taken away for dealing Methamphetamine.

Update from Sheriff’s dept.:

At 7:10AM on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in furtherance to a narcotics investigation, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives served search warrants at two homes in the City of Montebello. One was at the 1500 block of Los Angeles Ave. and the other was on the 1600 block of Los Angeles Ave.

44-year old Suspect Ruben Guerrero was arrested as he left his home in the 1500 block of Los Angeles Ave. in Montebello. He was booked at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station for Sales of Methamphetamine (11378 California Health & Safety Code), Sales of Narcotics Near a School (11353.6 California Health & Safety Code). His bail is set at $60,000.

No one else at the locations where the search warrants were served has been implicated in the sales of narcotics.
