Comedian and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will be the official host and Master of Ceremonies for the Inaugural Ceremony of incoming Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Sunday in what many are calling a “totally LA style event.”
Diego de la Garza, a spokesman for Garcetti told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that the incoming Mayor will be having a “people to people” ceremony that will began in 6 p.m. outside of LA City Hall.
Kimmel is the host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC each week night. Kimmel moved his show to Hollywood Boulevard when Garcetti served as a city councilman representing the newly revived entertainment corridor.
Also performing during the event will be rock star Moby.
Moby and Garcetti have struck up a close bond over the years and the new mayor has also played “back up” with the singer in the past at campaign fundraising events.
Also, Garcetti will take the oath of office from a 13-year old girl, who worked as a volunteer on his campaign and who is also the daughter of a local janitor.
A free carnival is also being planned after the ceremony.
