Call it the “Mother” of all sinkholes.
A sinkhole was reported in the La Puente area just before 1:00 A.M. on Mother’s Day that measured approximately 25 feet x 15 feet, located on North Hacienda Boulevard, between West Francisquito Avenue and West Fairgrove Avenue in La Puente. The sinkhole was caused by a damaged water main and has been closed-off for repairs. It will remain inaccessible for an unknown period of time.
Industry Sheriff’s Station personnel are advising the public to plan alternate travel routes and expect traffic delays. “Please remember to obey all traffic signs and signals. Temporary barricades have been placed in the area to keep the public safe and away from the affected area,” Sheriff officials said in a press statement on Sunday afternoon.
