Santa Fe Springs– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the scheduled overnight lane and full freeway closuresof Interstate 5 (Santa Ana Freeway) southbound between Carmenita Road and Artesia Boulevard for final striping of the new HOV (high occupancy vehicle) or carpool lanes. The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:
The nights of Tuesday, April 5, Wednesday, April 6, and Thursday, April 7:

The mainline lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. The new southbound HOV lanes from south of the Florence Ave. Bridge to the Orange County line will open to traffic by 7 a.m., possibly sooner.
Detour: southbound I-5 traffic will be detoured to southbound Carmenita Road to eastbound Artesia Boulevard back to southbound I-5.
Alternate route: southbound I-605 to eastbound State Route 91 to southbound I-5.

can’t they send the traffic down carmenita, to 166th , to walker then back onto artesia so as to avoid residential areas..? i live off of artesia and my house shakes like an earthquake every time those semi’s come past. not to mention, all that truck traffic is tearing up the street. pot holes are showing up all up and down the street.
