Direction of a Musical,” “Best Book of a Musical,” and “Best Costume Design.” The production also received The Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics’ Circle Award for “Outstanding Musical.” The musical also garnered a 2015 Grammy Award nomination for “Best Musical Show Album.”
The knock-’em-dead, uproarious romp is the tale of low-born Monty Navarro, who discovers that he’s eighth in line for an earldom in the lofty D’Ysquith family. Monty figures his chances of outliving his predecessors are slight, so he embarks on a far more murderous path. Can he knock off his unsuspecting relatives without being caught to become the ninth Earl of Highhurst? And what of love? This fun musical follows Monty on his adventures that will change the course of his future.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder opened on Broadway in
2013 to overwhelming critical acclaim. The New York Times raved that the musical “will lift the hearts of all those who’ve been pining for what sometimes seems a lost art form.” The Hollywood Reporter said it “restores our faith in musical comedy!” Entertainment Weekly described the show as “quite simply, it’s a bloody good time!” For tickets or more information, call (562) 916-8500 or go to cerritoscenter.com.
