Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult that occurred on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m. on the 8200 block of Olanda Street in Paramount.
Detectives have learned that Lakewood Station deputies responded to a call of gunshots heard in the area. When the deputies arrived, they found the victim laying in the driveway of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, 37 year-old Mario Gavino Chavarria, was approached in the driveway of his home by two male suspects whom produced handguns and shot the victim at close range.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
There is no additional description on the suspects or their last known direction.
The incident appears to be gang related.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
