Soroptimist International of Artesia-Cerritos held its very successful Quartermania fundraiser event on November 6 with 150 attendees, resulting in $5,500 in revenue. It was a fun, fast-paced event featuring a series of small raffles where attendees “bid” quarters to win prizes. “We are very pleased at the strong community support that resulted in Quartermania’s great success”, said Jennifer Kimble, event Chairwoman. Proceeds will support local charities, awards/scholarships/programs for women and girls, and Soroptimist education.

The Club celebrated its 45st year of founding and a successful past year with over $21,000 in giving through its Soroptimist Award programs, and donations to many local charities including Su Casa-Ending Domestic Violence and Community Family Guidance Center. On November 17, the Club will host an all-day career-mentoring program for over 60 local high school girls. Earlier in the year, the Club hosted a large event at the teen-parent center in Cerritos to assist teen parents and their children. In spring of 2017, the Club will give cash awards of over $3,000 and provide career mentoring to three women who are head of household, low income and seeking a college or vocational degree.
