FRIENDS OF THE 1ST CEB ASSEMBLED AND SHIPPED 46 FIVE-POUND GIFT BAGS FOR MARINES

Under the watchful eye  of the  Friends "Veteran of the Year",  Lew Woodson (as selected by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia  from the 58th Assembly District) the Friends are seen taping some of the gift boxes for shipment. Altogether, the Friends mailed over 300 pounds of goodies from the Artesia Post Office this week.

Under the watchful eye of the Friends “Veteran of the Year”, Lew Woodson (as selected by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia from the 58th Assembly District) the Friends are seen taping some of the gift boxes for shipment. Altogether, the Friends mailed over 300 pounds of goodies from the Artesia Post Office this week.

The individual gift bags for the 46 Marines  (plus one extra) were shipped to the 1st CEB Marines who are currently aboard ship, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, ready for instant deployment.
After months of enduring boring meals cooked aboard ship, the Marines are about receive three dozen cookies including a box of Girl Scout Cookies, a dozen donated from Polly’s Pies, a dozen cooked by the ladies of various Women’s clubs throughout Artesia and Cerritos; spices/seasonings, plus other comfort food and  miscellaneous items such as personalized sun-glasses, lip balm, ball-point pens, stress relief balls, socks, and books/magazines.
Altogether, the Friends mailed over 300 pounds of goodies from the Artesia Post Office this week.
Each bag weighed about 5 pounds and was stuffed so full it was difficult to pull the bag shut with the elastic cord.
The  Friends “Veteran of the Year”,  Lew Woodson, selected by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia  from the 58th Assembly District, was seen taping some of the boxes shut.
