Car Chase Culminates in Deputy Involved Shooting in Norwalk

Reports are that a car chase started in Lakewood and ended up in Norwalk across from Cerritos College, very close to the shooting that occurred yesterday.

The end of the car chase culminated in a deputy involved shooting.

Police are closing down some roads near the Cerritos College campus as they investigate.

The shooting occurred near the same location as an incident on Tuesday where a man was shot and killed at a 7-Eleven.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to the intersection of Alondra Boulevard & Studebaker Road, Cerritos, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting.

The deputy sustained unknown injuries as a result of being struck by the suspect’s vehicle and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There is no additional information available at this time.

Whenever a Deputy Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and it results in the fatality of a suspect, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene.  These include separate investigations by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner – Coroner, Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department immediately notifies the Office of the Inspector General who sends a representative to the incident scene and provides independent oversight throughout the investigative process.  Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff’s Executive Force Review Committee.  The Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney also participates in the investigatory process and conducts a legal analysis of the shooting.

How weird is this? This is the result that the Cerritos Traffic and Safety committee is not being televised. All commissioners and committee meetings should be televised. Cerritos Let Freedom Ring Committee is not televised, nor is the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts Televised and that committee recently filed BK. We need government which is more transparent.
