Statement from the River Academy:

Palm Springs Mojave River Academy Statement on Arrest of Riverside County Teacher Jesse Goff

April 22, 2015—Palm Springs, Calif—The administration of Palm Springs Mojave River Academy was deeply disturbed to learn of the arrest of Jesse Goff yesterday by the Riverside Sheriff’s Department on charges related to continuous sexual assault of a minor.  Our highest priority is to provide a safe learning environment within which our students can thrive.   Upon learning of this situation, we immediately placed Mr. Goff on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.  While  it is our understanding that no students of Palm Springs Mojave River Academy were involved in the allegations we are nonetheless deeply concerned and are working closely with law enforcement in their investigation.  We can confirm that Jesse Goff was employed as a teacher of Palm Springs Mojave River Academy since the fall of 2012.  It is the policy of Mojave River Academy and Oro Grande School District as the chartering authority to conduct comprehensive background checks of all employees and no disqualifying information was discovered during that background check of Mr. Goff.   As a proactive and precautionary measure, we have begun the process of notifying all parents of Palm Springs Mojave River Academy students about the  situation.  Furthermore we are encouraging anyone with information related to this situation to reach our directly to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department.  This is a difficult time for all members of the Palm Springs Mojave River Academy community and our thoughts and support go out to all of those involved in this situation.
