Congresswoman Napolitano Endorses Art Chacon for Central Basin Water District

Rep. Grace Napolitano

By Brian Hews

HMG-CN has been told that Art Chacon, Director of the Central Basin Municipal Water District Campaign, secured the endorsement of the most senior CA member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and ranking member of the Subcommittee on Water and Power, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano.

The endorsement comes on the heels of another major endorsement from the largest and oldest union in the United States – Teamsters Joint Council 42.

“I strongly support Director Art Chacon for re-election to the Central Basin Water Board,” said Napolitano.

“The severe water crisis affecting Southern California requires the strong leadership of experienced water officials to make the tough decisions necessary to deal effectively with our drought. Art has taken the lead in important improvement projects that have maintained the availability and delivery of precious ground water resources.  Despite some past challenges, he has earned our continued trust and our vote on Nov. 4th.”

Chacon added, “I am humbled to receive the Congresswoman’s endorsement. Like her I have thought outside the box in order to provide the best possible service to my constituents. That is why I took the lead on selling the largest amount of reclaimed water in the district’s history (60,000-AF) for a profit to the district of $50 million.”

Chacon’s Chief Strategist, John Thomas, added, “The rate-payers throughout the CBMWD deserve leaders like Art who are going to fight — year after year — to ensure that rates remain low, but that the same level of service is provided. The Congresswoman’s endorsement is further proof that Art remains the leading candidate in the race for District 3.”
