The La Mirada Junior (13-14) All Stars are one win from heading to the Junior Little League World Series after a series of dramatic wins in Vancouver, Washington this week.

The La Mirada Little League Junior All-stars include Jake Bale, Isaiah Carreon, Kendall Gaines, Jose Gutierrez, Kevin Kendall, R.J.Lan, Zane Palermo, Nicholas Rios, Justin Scroggin, Jonny Sholty Tony Valentin and Chad Wilson.

This week the team beat teams from Utah, Alaska and Montana but lost to Rio Rico Little League from Arizona by a score of 7-0. La Mirada and Rio Rico will be playing in another game, and the winner will then advance to the World Series that will be played in Taylor, Michigan.

Coach Brian Sholty told HMG-CN that “the boys are fired up, and are all playing great.”  Shotly, in his first year as head coach of the team, said that pitching ace Jose Gutierrez has been “flawless” during the trip to Vancouver.  “Our pitching has been amazing, and our bats are firing, I am very proud and excited for our boys,” said Sholty.

Ironically, it has been 10 years since the La Mirada Little League Junior All Stars won the national title.  “Listen, we are playing great right now, we are keeping focused and not looking ahead,” Sholty said.
