Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Involved in Shooting Leaving Two Suspects Injured, One Shot, Four Suspects Detained

By Brian Hews

Two members of the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Department were involved in a shooting incident early Sunday morning that has resulted in two suspects being injured, one sustaining a gun shot wound, as well as four male suspects being detained at the scene.

Here are the details of the incident that were released to members of the media on Sunday afternoon by an LA County Sheriff’s Media Spokesperson.

“At approximately 12:30 am, Pico Rivera Sheriff’s deputies were patrolling southbound Rosemead Boulevard approaching Shenandoah Street when they witnessed a male Hispanic suspect spray painting a wall on the west side of Rosemead Boulevard,” the statement read.

“The Deputies, working a two person patrol car, stopped to contact the suspect. When the suspect saw the deputies, he entered a vehicle facing south, with three other male Hispanic suspects inside.”

“Despite orders from the deputies to stop, the vehicle drove directly at one of the deputies, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred. One suspect was struck in the upper torso and is in critical condition at a local hospital. A second suspect sustained minor injuries from flying broken glass. All four male suspects are being detained and the investigation is on-going,” the spokesperson said.

The deputies were not injured.
